The Child Rights Education and Welfare Project was designed to target young pupils in formal school structure in Oyo, Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso zones of Oyo State. The Project is funded by Kindermissionwerk, a child development international organization in Germany for different phases beginning from March 2017 till date. The Child Right Project was conceived against the background that the myriads of developmental challenges militating against Nigeria did not just spring up abruptly. The staff of RUDEP led by the Head of Department, Mr. Anthony Ogunnupebi made an advocacy visit to National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) to discuss possible areas of collaboration with the organization. The team arrived at NCAM office at exactly 2:30pm on the 17th of May, 2023 and was well received by the Director of Public Relations, NCAM, Mr. Olaifa Taye Paul. As part of efforts to promote agriculture and rural development in consonance with the global best practices, our Rural Development Programme Department visited Soku, a small farm settlement along Oyo-Iseyin road, Oyo West LGA to supervise the harvesting of cassava varieties on the partnership demo plot of African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI) Project with the Justice, Development and Peace Movement (JDPM) Oyo After the harvesting,it was discovered that a section of 10m x 10m which was measured from both plots within the same area produced different yields because the yield for per 10m ? 10m of old practice has 45kg While yield per 10m ?10m for demo plot weighs 170kg. The Rural Development Programme of JDPM have always strive hard to ensure that the lives of rural community dwellers under the misereor sponsored project is better. The focus is mainly on rural farmers including women and youths for holistic agricultural and community development. The department which started more than a decade ago under the Oyo, Osun Agricultural Diocesan Programme (OODAP) has continued to grow from strength to more formidable entity in Oyo State because of its crops of experienced staff who worked tirelessly in 19 LGAs depicting the Catholic Diocese of Oyo. The sustainable farmers association of Nigeria (SUFAN) meeting commenced with registration and lunch overseen by Bolanle Adegoke, Ikeh Victor, and Abubakar Ramon. The SUFAN executives were introduced, and Mr. Adetoro Adeniyi elaborated on the significance of SUFAN, its membership, and its relationship with JDPM. He stressed the importance of farmers leading the organization, given its name - Sustainable Farmers Association of Nigeria. In an attempt to catch them young, JDPM Oyo embarked on School Outreach on Civic Education and Gender Based Violence (GBV) under the EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) Program Phase II. It is believed that many people had withdrawn from participating in election, either as a voter or candidate, due to loss of interest in the electioneering process in Nigeria as a result of either lack of adequate information or a perceived threat to their lives.
